Indigenous Advisory Council
The Indigenous Advisory Council (IAC) brings together experienced voices from across the agriculture and food systems landscape to help guide the Indigenous Agriculture & Food Systems (IAFS) National Engagement.
Created as a strategic sounding board, the IAC helps ensure that the IAFS project reflects the realities, priorities, and lived experiences of Indigenous peoples. Council members review the approach, offer insight on early findings, and surface regional nuances or gaps that may not emerge through engagement activities alone.
Scope
- Providing guidance on emerging insights and sector recommendations
- Ensuring cultural relevance and alignment with Indigenous perspectives
- Identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities across the agriculture and food ecosystem
- Reviewing and validating findings to strengthen their accuracy, relevancy, and practical application
The Council does not make decisions or govern this project; it serves as a strategic advisory body that helps strengthen the quality, relevance, and applicability of project findings.

Council members bring expertise from across Indigenous agriculture and food systems, business, finance, research, and community development, helping ensure the work reflects Indigenous perspectives, priorities, and sector realities.
